Centro Urbano de Santiago de la Ribera

Santiago de la Ribera was born in the late 19th century, originating from an idea by Frey José Mª Barnuevo and Rodrigo de Villamayor, a Knight of the Order of Santiago and owner of the Torre Mínguez Estate. He subdivided a portion of the estate, arranging it in a grid pattern, and sold these plots through a land tenure system to locals and affluent individuals from Murcia.

Thus, we find a perfectly urbanized poulation, with its center revolving around Sandoval Avenue and explanada Brnuevo, featuring numerous shops, restaurants, bars, etc. The original house of the estate, Torre Mínguez, still stands and has a large and beautiful front garden.
