ABARÁNIGLESA DE SAN PABLO
ABARÁNOn the 6th of January the Fiesta del Niño is celebrated, a unique tradition that has endured over time since epidemics altered the prosperous heartbeat of an exceptional land for cultivation. The Brotherhood of the Souls goes from house to house so that all the Abaraneros and Abaraneras can adore the Christ-child on the occasion of the Epiphany.
More than ten images of the Christ-child, no less than forty people from the Brotherhood of the Ánimas, carrying saddlebags and lanterns, attend to the needs of four thousand Abaraneros' homes every year. The festival begins in the early hours of the morning, with the transfer of the Christ-child to various health centres so that the sick can pray to him. Then, at three o'clock in the afternoon, the images leave the church to the sound of Christmas songs and begin their journey through the city centre and the neighbourhoods of the Virgen del Oro, Asilo, Hoya del Campo, San José Artesano, Pisos de Carmelo, etc.
