Nav Haq
Leeds, 1976. Lives and works in Bristol. Nav Haq is Exhibitions Curator at Arnolfini, Bristol. From 2005-2007 he was the curator at Gasworks in London, after which he curated the 3rd Contour Biennial for Video Art, Belgium, in summer 2007 (www.contour2007.be). Haq was also previously a Guest Editor at Book Works, London, for whom he edited a short series of artists' books, and is an editor of the bi-annual journal for critical writing entitled Concept Store, published by Arnolfini. Haq was also co-curator (with Tirdad Zolghadr) of the long-term research project Lapdogs of the Bourgeoisie, investigating the subject of class hegemony in contemporary art. He has curated numerous exhibitions, including solo projects with artists such as Saskia Holmkvist, Hassan Khan, Michael Stevenson and Kerry Tribe. For 2011, Haq has been involved in developing a year-long programme of exhibitions for Arnolfini's 50th anniversary year, investigating the philosophical notion of "the apparatus". This includes a solo exhibition by Cosima von Bonin as well as a historical survey of fictional museums created by artists, entitled Museum Show. He has also contributed to numerous art magazines including Bidoun, frieze, and Kaleidoscope.
