Enablers: Backbench, Archive, 2010
The project consists of two serially interlinked interventions that are dispersed in the city of Murcia as part of Manifesta 8 in 2010. The objects, consisting of the Backbench (Former Central Post Office, Murcia) and the Archive (Espacio AV, Murcia), are conceived as distant relatives, displaying similar traits whilst each maintains a level of autonomy. The Backbench serves as a conceptual and physical centrepiece to the ACAF forum, which takes on the form and format of a conflictual discussion.

nOffice and its three partners Markus Miessen, Magnus Nilsson and Ralf Pflugfelder is an architectural practice based in Berlin, situated at the crossroads of architecture and critical spatial practice. Their work includes a pavilion for the Lyon Biennial, an exhibition space and Frieze bar for Max Wigram Gallery in London, a mobile exhibition space for the Credit Suisse collection, an exhibition design for Arnolfini, the "Hub" for Performa Biennial New York, and the gallery and reading space Archive Kabinett in Berlin. The practice is currently working on a series of differently scaled projects, including the co-initiated Hans Ulrich Obrist archive, cultural centre and residency. In Brazil, nOffice is consulting on a masterplan for a 50-hectare rural density strategy and it has been commissioned to design the library as its central public component. In Berlin, it is currently working on a series of gallery spaces and residences, as well as (in collaboration with a consultancy for sustainable economics) developing a 20-year plan for the future of Berlin. nOffice shares and nurtures a constantly growing obsession and expertise on archives and libraries. www.noffice.eu
